Royal Orange Bio!

Orange: Jared Sonnenklar, and Colin Page

Jared Sonnenklar was born and raised in Davie, Florida. He now attends the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Jared has been sailing since childhood. The son of the “famous Jay Sonnenklar,” he began his sailing career before he could walk. In the early 2000’s, he began racing with the Catamaran Association of Biscayne Bay.
On the beach in Hollywood in 2005, Jared watched the start of the Tybee 500 and said off hand, “I could do that.” Fortunately, long time mentor and friend Jamie Livingston was standing within earshot and said, “I’ll do it with you.” The rest is history. In 2006, Jared and Jamie sailed the Tybee 500 together. In 2007, new challenges arose when Jared sailed with Australian rock star Rod Waterhouse, an experience that changed his view of sailing forever.
In 2008, Jared met Colin Paige. Colin was born and raised in Naples, Florida and has been an avid sailor since he was very young. He is a Sophomore at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. The two had never met before arriving in Islamorada, Florida for the start of the race. Despite leaving for the darkside of team Tybee, Jamie Livingston paired Colin and Jared up and neither could be happier. Colin and Jared were the youngest team in Tybee history. This year will be their third year sailing together. Last summer, the two also competed in the Great Texas Race and won the overall elapsed time trophy. With momentum on their side, Jared and Colin are looking to overthrowing the established order and claiming their spot as Team Royal number one.
A valued member of their ground crew is sailor, Colin's, brother Corey Page. Corey just turned 16 and was born and raised in Naples. He began sailing Optimist Dingys when he was 7 and was later selected to be a part of the USODA Development Team and National Team. Corey now sails Laser Radials for the Naples Community Sailing Center Racing Team and also crews on a Soverel 33 that is based in Naples. This will be Corey's 3rd year as part of the Tybee 500 ground crew.
